A POCKET RADIO ICON
Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio is the consumer electronics industry’s best performing pocket radio. It has a flawless design, implementation, and reception of analog radio broadcasts. I enjoy listening to this pocket radio just as much as any larger item in my personal radio assortment. A morning sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean, a hot cup of coffee, a warmed croissant, the fresh scent of the morning newspaper and a Brahms symphony playing gently in the background. This is a marvelous pocket audio product, offering a superior portable design, reception range and expert craftsmanship. This product is designed to persevere throughout the years. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio can withstand less than ideal weather conditions and subpar operating environments on a consistent basis. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio offers two distinct listening options. A formidable 2.25-inch monaural speaker provides big booming sound on FM music stations. Lady Gaga tunes, Adele’s amazing vocal range, female nightclub acts, newly discovered artists, show tunes, old-school rap, hip-hop, dub, dubstep, drum n’ bass, club music, ballet, tap, foxtrot, waltz, salsa, tango, bop vocals, rumba, dance, trance, electronic, house, house mix, lounge music, industrial, reggae, reggae roots, meringue, mariachi, Latin songs, marching band tunes, carousel tunes, workout songs, classical music, instrumental orchestral ensemble music, classic rock, soft rock, hard rock, guitar rock, piano rock, protest rock, folk rock, acoustic rock, adult rock, female rock, British invasion rock, open road rock songs, jam bands, punk rock, punk fusion, heavy metal, garage rock, surf rock, indie rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, rock cover songs, rock instrumentals, blues rock, acoustic blues, grunge, alternative new wave, motivational songs, fist pumping stadium rock anthems, power rock ballads, southern rock, country rock, rhythm and blues, gospel, jazz, smooth jazz, country, country music duets, bluegrass, love songs, sad love songs, soul, neo-soul, slow jams, world-music, big band era, swing, elevator music, easy listening, oldies, Motown hits, party hits, pop music, pop rock, pop-remixes, opera musical scores, rock operas and disco music are very enjoyable and superbly reproduced across the FM Band. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio provides clear, well-defined, and distinct voice quality on my favorite AM station talk radio programs. I find that the weekday morning’s public affairs, health, business, world news, technology, popular culture, science, arts, comedy, movie review, sports talk, newsmaker author interviews, pet care and auto repair programs feature accurate reception on the AM Band. The audio quality emitted from the speaker is on par or better than larger portable radios that I have heard. The monaural speaker provides depth and clarity of sound without distortion. A convenient Earphone Jack is provided on the left side of the radio for any occasion when a private listening session is desired. The speaker is disabled immediately when the Earphone Jack is in use. AM and FM tuning are a breeze with the thumbwheel Tuning Knob. The precision notched Tuning Knob is accurately calibrated for local market radio stations on both broadcast bands. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio receives 50,000-Kilowatt Clear Channel Communications Stations with incredible precision across the AM Band. Weak signal adjacent channel reception on either band is particularly good throughout the day. The LED TUNE indicator lights up in bright red when a station is accurately locked in. Station drift is not an issue with Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio. I never feel the need to readjust the Tuning Knob once the LED indicator is lit. I do not have to retune the pocket radio when it is turned off and then powered on again to recapture the last station listened to. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is always there for me when I want to listen to the baseball game, football game, basketball game, hockey game, the latest weather forecast, traffic report, stock market update, live press conference or an up-to-the minute newscast when I cannot be near a TV. The ferrite bar antenna and telescopic whip antenna enable this handsome Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio to offer exceptional sensitivity and selectivity reception on the AM/FM bands. I do not need to reorient the horizontal position of the pocket radio frequently or extend the telescopic antenna vertically to achieve satisfactory AM/FM reception. I can receive out-of-market AM Band stations on most winter, spring and fall nights when clear atmospheric conditions are present. The AM or FM band (group of radio stations within the same F.C.C. licensed AM or FM frequency spectrum) can be changed when this pocket radio is powered off by adjusting the Band Selector Switch. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio offers exemplary battery life. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is powered by 2 AA batteries that are difficult to deplete. The batteries are not included with purchase of Sony AM/FM 2 Band Pocket Radio. The AA batteries must be installed in reverse polarity inside the battery compartment. It is a rare event when Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s batteries need to be replaced. There is no definitive answer as to the actual time that the AA batteries will last. The battery life specifications provided by Sony in the user manual (approx. 40 hours on the FM Band, approx. 45 hours on the AM Band via the built-in speaker | JEITA Measurement Standard) are approximate, are offered under factory operating conditions and are accurate if Sony (SUM-3 NS) AA batteries that are manufactured in Japan are used. Sony does not provide technical specifications for approximate battery life when this pocket radio is used exclusively with an earphone or stereo headphones. Individual battery life results will vary in this regard. Your Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio will have different battery life because it is not likely to be used exclusively at Sony factory. Battery life will vary by battery manufacturer and battery chemistry. The longer the duration Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is powered on and as the volume increases during playback battery life will be shortened accordingly. Proceed with caution. I recommend Duracell Coppertop DURALOCK Power Preserve, Duracell Ultra Advanced, Duracell Ultra Power, Duracell Ultra Power DURALOCK Power Preserve, Energizer Max Power Seal Technology, Rayovac Ready Power or Sony Stamina Platinum AA alkaline batteries, Energizer Advanced Lithium or Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries for maximum audio performance and battery life of this remarkable Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio. Stay away from cheap no name label alkaline, manganese, rechargeable or carbon-zinc batteries. Unknown brand supermarket, local pharmacy or dollar store AA batteries are inferior, last a noticeably abbreviated time span and leak in the battery compartment. Make sure to never mix old and new batteries, different battery types, different battery voltages and different battery brands. Do not mix and match diverse types of 1.5V lithium AA batteries even if they are from the same manufacturer. Remove the AA alkaline batteries from the battery compartment if Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is not going to be used for an extended period to avoid damage from battery leakage. Energizer Advanced or Ultimate Lithium AA batteries feature leak-resistant construction and may be more suitable for storage inside the battery compartment in extreme temperatures compared to industry standard AA alkaline batteries. The AA batteries should be replaced when the red LED TUNE indicator becomes faint, the pocket radio consistently emits subpar sound or no sound at all. Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio is compatible with the following AA 1.5V or equivalent battery types: carbon-zinc (1.5V 1,100 mAh capacity recommended), alkaline (1.5V 2,800-15,000 mAh capacity recommended), lithium (1.5V 3,100 mAh capacity recommended) and NiMH rechargeable (1.2V 2,300-2,700 mAh capacity recommended). When purchasing AA batteries for this unit, it is a good idea to check the date on the package. A fresh set of AA alkaline batteries should have a best if used by date of at least 6 or 7 years ahead of the date of purchase. Duracell Coppertop DURALOCK Power Preserve, Duracell Ultra Power DURALOCK Power Preserve and Energizer Max Power Seal Technology AA alkaline batteries are guaranteed to stay fresh by the manufacturer in the packaging for up to 10 years from the date of purchase. Energizer Advanced Lithium batteries can hold power in the packaging for up to 10 years from the date of purchase. The package date for Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries may be up to 20 years ahead of the date of purchase. Battery life is determined by several factors and that is why individual results vary. Such factors include the genre of music being played, the volume level being used, the length of time it is powered on and ambient room or outdoor temperature. Battery life will be decreased if this pocket radio is powered by AA alkaline batteries in extremely cold temperatures. Have spare AA batteries nearby in case audio performance deteriorates in the middle of a favorite song. Lithium AA batteries are approximately 33% lighter in weight compared to standard alkaline AA batteries. The total weight of Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio will be affected by the chemical composition of AA batteries used in the battery compartment. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio cannot be operated on AC power as it does not feature a DC IN Power Jack. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s adjustable telescopic antenna provides for more precise FM Band reception, as circumstances require. The FM Band whip antenna offers vertical adjustment in collapsible metal pole segments and multidirectional horizontal movement for enhanced reception. The telescopic antenna does not permit 360-degree rotational movement. The telescopic antenna can be replaced with the assistance of a Philips screwdriver to remove and replace one antenna case screw. The ferrite bar antenna allows for horizontal positioning of the radio to improve AM Band broadcasts as needed. The quality of radio reception received on Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is dependent on a multitude of environmental factors, seasonal conditions, astronomical occurrences, principles of radio wave propagation, electromagnetic polarization properties of radio broadcast signal transmission towers, unauthorized radio wave transmissions, broadcast antenna maintenance operations, radio broadcaster signal processing equipment, HD radio wave transmissions during the overnight hours, the laws of physics, F.C.C. regulations regarding broadcast power transmissions during the daytime and nighttime hours and circumstances that are beyond your control. Reception can change based on the time of day it is, atmospheric conditions, the presence of sun spots, solar flares, solar winds and solar or geomagnetic storms during the daytime hours, the movement of radio waves from one part of the earth to another, nearby power lines and electrical motors to the home, close by ham radio operators in the neighborhood, the proximity of appliances that emit RF interference to the radio receiver, the type of material that your home or room is made of, the distance from the broadcast tower(s) to the home, the presence of mountains, hills and skyscrapers in the neighborhood, signal strength of the station being received and the quality of the antenna and radio receiver play a critical part in determining the quality of radio reception in the home or outdoors. Radio reception varies by geographical location. It cannot be determined in the abstract if the tuner design of a radio is responsible for the quality of radio reception that a customer experience. A digitally tuned radio is not inherently superior in radio reception compared to its analog counterpart. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s sensitivity and selectivity performance with respect to weak signal and adjacent channel reception aptitude will thrive or dive on the quality, electrical design, thermal design and craftsmanship of the radio’s tuning circuitry, signal processing, noise filters, accurate calibration of the tuning dial and built-in AM/FM antennas. Accurate, clear, and drift-free radio reception for Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio will inevitably vary. It is not possible to give a definitive answer as to the exact distance that a radio broadcast can be received at a specific point of the day or night. Only a general range of broadcast reception can be estimated, measured in miles, when determining if Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio can receive a broadcast. FM radio signals are broadcast at a higher altitude than AM signals. FM Band radio interference can be caused from multipath reflections of radio waves off tall buildings or nearby mountains in the neighborhood. The reception area of most FM signals can range between 40-100 miles. Under rare atmospheric conditions, referred to as Tropospheric Ducting, FM signal sky wave coverage over land or bodies of water during the warm summer months can extend outward up to a 190-500-mile radius from a station(s) broadcast transmitter during the daytime hours. Tropospheric Ducting forecasts are rated on weakest signal to strongest signal geographical coverage area 0-10 index scale. Hilly or mountainous terrain work to defeat expanded Tropospheric Ducting FM radio wave propagation across the U.S. for most FM Band listeners. FM coverage is much shorter than AM radio wave coverage because FM signals travel in straight lines (line-of-sight) and have reduced interaction with the earth’s ionosphere. Many long-distance FM signals cannot be received by terrestrial broadcast receivers because they are reflected off the ionosphere back out into space. FM monaural reception offers better sound quality compared to AM. FM mono signals are susceptible to much less interference than AM radio broadcasts. FM Band broadcasts provide high-fidelity sound to the target radio audience and provide the shortest reception range in a market on the 87.5-108 MHz frequency band. AM stations on the 530-1605 kHz frequency band periodically reduce power at night or perform maintenance operations on the transmitter that could adversely affect reception. The transmissions of AM radio broadcasts are much longer than FM. In the daytime, AM radio broadcasts traveling via ground wave transmission may reach listeners within a several hundred-mile radii. At night, AM signals roaming via sky wave may travel hundreds or even thousands of miles away from the intended radio market. DX reception of remote AM stations on Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is possible after sunset because of an AM broadcaster’s ability to bounce signals off the outer reaches of the earth’s atmosphere to Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s outside of the intended radio market. AM DX reception is best during the winter months and is at its lowest point of performance in the summer. An examination of the various sources of radio interference is an important subject as it pertains to Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s overall day-to-day performance. Most sources of radio interference come from entertainment devices within the home that emit RF or radio frequency waves. Radio interference may be caused by phenomenon occurring outside the home, in the immediate surrounding area of your home, deteriorating atmospheric conditions and/or interference from adjacent frequencies on the FM Band. Listeners experience interference from nearby electronic equipment in their home from such items as computers, cordless telephones, microwave ovens, cellular telephones, televisions, stereos, compact disc players, electric power tools and everyday household appliances such as a vacuum cleaner. RF interference can be caused from lighting equipment, dimmer switches, metal objects and nearby broadcasting radio and television equipment. A competing station that is adjacent to the station being listened to will occasionally bleed into the tuned station to degrade reception opportunities as well. Moving a Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio closer to a window and away from devices that emit harmful RF waves dramatically improves AM/FM reception. Medium Wave coverage can be expanded upon indoors with an external omnidirectional passive antenna. For example, Terk AM Advantage Antenna uses a wireless electromagnetic procedure known as inductive coupling to improve AM Band reception by placing the antenna near Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio. Terk AM Advantage Antenna must be tuned to the same frequency that Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is receiving on the AM Band to benefit from the increased signal-to-noise ratios provided by Terk AM Band Indoor Advantage Antenna. An external FM antenna, such as C. Crane FM Reflect Dipole Antenna, can be attached via alligator clips to the whip antenna for improved FM reception indoors. Moreover, the Earphone Jack can be attached to the 3.5mm or RCA Stereo Line Input Jack of a portable tape recorder or digital MP3 recorder to archive radio programs for personal use. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s 3.5mm Earphone Output Jack can be connected to the following portable recorders: RadioShack CTR-121(A) Desktop Recorder, RadioShack Model: 1401128 Desktop Cassette Recorder, RadioShack CTR-122 Cassette Recorder, RadioShack Model: 1400214 4GB Desktop Digital Voice Recorder, Sangean DAR-101 Digital Audio Recorder, RCA RP3504 Personal Portable Recorder Cassette Player, RCA VR4210GB Digital Voice Recorder, Panasonic RQ2102 Cassette Recorder, Sony TCM-929 Pressman Desktop Cassette Recorder, RCA RP3537R Microcassette Voice Recorder, voice activated cassette recorder, shoebox tape recorder, microcassette recorder, Sony IC Series Recorder, Sony Portable Digital Field Recorder or MP3 recorder. The connected recording device must have a 3.5mm Microphone Input Jack, 3.5mm AUX Line Input Jack or an RCA Stereo Input Jack. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s 3.5mm Earphone Output Jack must be connected to the 3.5mm Microphone Input Jack of the compatible Sony IC Voice Activated Mono/Stereo MP3 Recorder (Sony ICD-SX712D, Sony ICD-SX712, Sony ICD-UX523, Sony ICD-PX312D, Sony ICD-AX412 or Sony ICD-PX312) with a 3.5mm male-to-3.5mm-male stereo patch cable. The Audio In input mode must be selected on the attached Sony IC Recorder or an attenuating dubbing cable must be used to record music or talk show programs from Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio without severe distortion. I recommend any of the following aftermarket 3.5mm-male-to-3.5mm-male stereo patch cables to connect Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio to an analog/digital voice recorder: 1. Dynex DX-MP353B, 2. Dynex DX-MP35B, 3. Dynex DX-AD105, 4. Rocketfish RF-PAUX2, 5. Dynex DX-MP3AX, 6. Dynex DX-DMP354 or 7. Dynex DX-DCAUX. Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio is a wonderful business or leisure travel companion. A third-party carrying case can be purchased for Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio. A DuraNeoprene Protective Sleeve was specifically designed to meet the mobile transport needs of Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio. This black protective sleeve is made of extremely thick neoprene synthetic rubber materials to prevent Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio from suffering scratches or damage if it is inadvertently dropped. The stretchable protective sleeve with plush inner lining keeps Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio safe during storage or when in transit from one portable audio location to another. The neoprene carry case holds up well in extreme temperatures. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is a superb battery powered news information resource tool to have during inclement weather, natural disaster such as a coastal flood, avalanche, lightning strike or short-term power outage. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio can be made part of an emergency prep kit in advance of a natural disaster, severe weather event, unplanned weather, tornado, water main break, building collapse, bridge collapse, construction site accident, boating vessel accident, gasoline shortage, plane crash, train derailment, drought condition, emergency water usage restriction, water supply contamination, manmade catastrophe, terrorist attack, explosion, asteroid collision, during a period of civil unrest or to receive notice of abhorrent criminal conduct taking place in the neighborhood on FM or AM news radio. I cannot recommend a wind-up hand crank radio. I have not seen a complete disposable battery shortage. I have never run out of AA battery power during a power outage that I can remember. AA alkaline batteries are one of the most ubiquitous items for sale in the U.S. AA alkaline batteries can be purchased at almost any store anywhere. Yes, there are exceptions but not many. Obviously, AA alkaline batteries become scarce immediately before, during or after a severe storm and power outage. One way to avoid a temporary AA alkaline battery shortage and loss of battery power is to buy a spare pair or spare sets of AA batteries for Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio in case you cannot find a store that sells AA alkaline batteries now. The spare pair of AA batteries will last much longer than the self-powered wind-up rechargeable radio. The long-term storage of AA alkaline or lithium batteries is a favorable option to power Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio during a nightmare public endangerment scenario. However, a wind-up radio may be a more desirable portable AM/FM/Shortwave/WB radio to take on a long camping trip, hunting trip and fishing excursion or to have during a power outage. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio offers topnotch battery life on one pair of AAs alkaline or lithium batteries and that is enough reason alone for me not to recommend a wind-up radio. Wind-up radios may also be inconvenient for customers that suffer from arthritis, joint diseases or maladies that cause pain in the hands. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio offers better sound quality from its robust mono speaker on radio broadcasts compared to a wind-up radio to provide increased voice clarity on vital weather reports, traffic updates, voluntary evacuation orders and mandatory evacuation orders on the AM/FM bands. Radio reception varies significantly depending on the physical and geographical location of Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio. The exterior case should be cleaned with a suitable cloth slightly moistened with a liquid detergent when necessary. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio can receive AM/FM stations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and overseas when located in those geographical radio markets. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is compatible with an FM transmitter for wireless portable audio playback. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s operating instructions do not indicate that there is a 3.5mm Line Input Jack for connection to an MP3 Player or smartphone. An MP3 Player can be played on Sony ICF-S10Mk2 Pocket Radio’s monaural speaker via a user-selectable unused FM radio station frequency with an FM transmitter connected to the MP3 Player’s 3.5mm Stereo Headphone Jack. The same unused FM Band frequency must be selected on the FM transmitter and Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio for MP3 Player wireless audio playback to work correctly. A portable AAA battery-operated FM transmitter with a 3.5mm Line Input Jack is compatible with Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s FM Band tuner. A Maxell P-13 Universal Digital FM Stereo transmitter is recommended for MP3 Player wireless audio playback on Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio cannot receive AM Band stereo programs. Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio is well-suited for field use in the car, on the bus, train, boat, airplane, at work, at home, on the farm, dorm room, gym, working on a project outside the home, in a waiting room, at the library, sidewalk café, bookstore, on the boardwalk, the porch, patio, balcony, at a picnic, the ballgame, a fishing trip, the park, running or walking on the street and at the beach. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio is a superb portable audio companion to keep up-to-date with the following news information items: severe weather, developing weather events, storm track forecasts, cold and warm front formations, unexpected weather conditions, torrential rain storms, electrical storms, severe thunder and lightning warnings, current temperature, dew point, humidity levels, wind speeds, high-wind warnings, allergen alerts, maritime weather reports, coastal weather conditions, global climate change conditions, down power lines, down power line safety tips, earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, blizzards, tsunamis, volcano eruptions, dust storms, air quality alert warnings, severe summer heat advisories, cold weather warnings, beach closings, beach erosion reports, boating advisories, fishing restrictions, pollution contamination reports on beaches and coastal properties, school closings, bridge closings, tunnel closings, motivational programs, meteor showers, lunar eclipses, solar eclipses, N.A.S.A. space flight explorations, international space station news articles, public affairs programs, public health programs, science programs, political commentary, author interviews, sports player interviews, educational programs, international politics, global finance trends, stock market reports, global financial markets news, automotive repair advice, auto industry sector technology and economic developments, business news, pet care guidance, oil spills, nuclear power plant radiation leaks, government crime statistics, floods, late-breaking local, domestic or international news, large-scale political protest movements, music, talk shows, popular sporting events, election night news coverage, election night projected winner race results, election night race results, election night political candidate victory speeches, election night political candidate concession speeches, pundit analysis of election night results, national political party convention coverage, public official resignation statements, political scandals, movie reviews, the latest Hollywood gossip, Ski resort reports, vacation, tourism and travel information, political candidate debates, official government elective office public oath swearing-in ceremonies, inauguration presidential ceremony, inaugural presidential speech, presidential speeches, precedent setting local and national court case decisions, Presidential Medal of Freedom award recipient announcements, Nobel Peace Prize winner announcements, legislative body voting, parliamentary procedure legislative tactics, vital law passage developments, battlefield reports, war coverage, holiday parade coverage, sporting event parade coverage, commemorative event press reports, charitable cause donation radio programs, elected public official question and answer call-in talk shows, coverage of awards presented at the Oscars (Academy Awards), Emmy Awards (Academy of Television Arts & Sciences), Grammy Awards (The Recording Academy), Golden Globe Awards (The Hollywood Foreign Press Association), Tony Awards (The American Theatre Wing) and in-depth reporting from national and international entertainment industry award shows. The perceived loudness of Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio will depend on objective and subjective factors. The quality of Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s earphone amplifier and mono speaker will play a crucial role in determining how loud the volume levels the pocket radio can be played back at through attached stereo headphones or aloud during music sharing sessions. Most portable audio devices such as an MP3 Player, compact disc player, cassette player or Sony pocket radio feature low-powered headphone amplifiers ranging between 5-15 mW at designated impedance and a mono speaker rated at 100-400 milliwatts max. RMS output power at 10% T.H.D. Conversely, the headphone amplifiers found in component stereo equipment may be rated up to 500mW at selected impedance. A stereo receiver’s power amp section may be rated at 200 Watts RMS or more at 8-ohms impedance (at 0.09% T.H.D.) and is much more powerful than the 100mW mono power amplifier found in a Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio. A stereo receiver can power stereo headphones with a much higher impedance rating of 70-300 ohms or greater more efficiently compared to a Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio’s earphone amp. A stereo receiver or integrated amplifier makes use of a Full-Size .25-inch (6.3mm) Stereo Headphone Jack to deliver increased amplifier power to home theater stereo headphones. Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket Radio does not provide support for continuous radio playback for days and weeks on end. The AA batteries would be exhausted long before that type of playback could be achieved. Sony does not support its pocket radios in a commercial setting. Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM 2 Band Portable Radio is a pocket radio icon in the portable audio community. Sony has produced a perfect pocket radio. Overall rating 5 stars. Good Luck. Enjoy.
